Step By Step Guide to Maintain Ute Roll Top Cover in Sydney

(1) The Conditions of usage

(4) Locking Mechanism

(5) Adjustment of the spring
- The mainspring is located in the canister’s main shaft. Delivery has adjusted the spring tension and it is ready to use.
- The tension of the springs may be simply adjusted. A pinion is located on the right side of the canister end piece.
To adjust the tension, do the following:
- To unlock the locking mechanism, press the pin inward. Use an 8 mm key and a tiny wrench.
- Adjust clockwise while retaining pressure on the pin to increase spring tension and speed up the opening of the ute roll top cover.
- Adjust anticlockwise while keeping pressure on the pin to lessen spring tension and make the ute roll top cover open slowly.
- If the canister is opened without first releasing the spring tension, the mainspring may cause injury.
- Do not tighten the spring with a force greater than 7 Nm or less than 5 Nm, or the spring may be damaged.
(i) General cleaning
- The ute roll top cover should be cleaned on a regular basis with water and standard auto shampoo.
- Drains should be cleaned on a regular basis to ensure effective water management.
- Use a gentle, lint-free cloth or brush to clean. Using freshwater, completely rinse the soap foam and dry with a clean cloth.
- Any other chemicals, such as gasoline, strong alkaline, or acid, must not be used on the surface.
- Abrasive cleaning products such as steel wool, hard brushes, and abrasive scourers should not be used.
- They may damage the coating surface and alter the finish’s colour or gloss levels.
(ii) Cleaning the canister
- At least once a year, the canister should be cleaned to remove dirt and debris.
- For this procedure, the lid atop the canister must be removed and reassembled with care.
- Make sure the plastic screw caps aren’t lost.
- Remove the screws that hold the lid together.
- Make sure you don’t misplace them.
- Take off the cover.
- Clean the canister of dirt and debris.
- Put the cover back together.
- A proper lock lubricant should be used to lubricate the lock on a regular basis.
- Cleaning and lubricating seals and side profiles using silicon oil or something similar should be done on a regular basis.
- The clamps should be re-tightened to 8 Nm and positioned correctly.
- This should be done after the first 1000 kilometres of use.
- Check all of the roll-top cover’s screw connections and fastenings, and tighten or readjust as needed.
- At regular intervals, double-check.
